Back to the Access Point
The parking lot had to have been 40 degrees, blistering hot. En route to the outfitter, the foam blocks melted a little onto the roof of the rental car (yeah, the lime green one) :-)
--saw lots of wildlife (deer, moose, marten, mink, turtle, lots of loons, mergansers, frogs, toads, tadpoles, snakes, and evil gulls)
--high water levels
--park was not crowded
--good weather 4 of 7 days
--gear works (tarps, chair, camera, InReach device, etc...)
--great stars two nights
---mosquitoes and black flies were thick pretty much everywhere
---light winds meant good paddling, but more mosquitoes and black flies in camp
---Picaridin insect repellent doesn't work very well
---did I mention the mosquitoes and black flies?
Overall, it was a good trip, but it was hard to relax in camp during bug season. I think I'll stick to fall trips from now on!
